Eating out as a vegan can sometimes be very interesting and challenging. I have decided to review places I eat out at and give some ideas of the dishes I choose.
Two Ten Jack is a Japanese style restaurant in Warehouse Row here in Chattanooga, TN has fast become one of my favourites. The atmosphere is great with muted light, clean lines and natural materials used in the decor. My first visit was just a few weeks after it opened here in Chattanooga and I tried the yasai shoyu, a ramen bowl with vegetable broth, burnt corn, greens, benishoga and mayu as well as the avocado in skin with mustard, ponzu and wasabi as a starter. It was absolutely delicious and I have had it many times since.
One of my favourites for lunch has been the Bento box. I had to ask for some substitutes for some of the items in the yakitori box. It usually comes with the following – tsukune, sasami, vegetarian, or skirt steak yakitori; half maki roll, miso soup and green -or- seaweed salad. Instead of the half maki roll I had the shishito peppers – figs, katsuobushi, sticky peanuts and honey-soy – which was quite spicy but delicious.
I highly recommend this restaurant for it’s tasty food and great atmosphere. Find more information about the restaurant at http://twotenjack.com/chattanooga/
